Unfinished

Unfinished by Wanda Stride (copyright 2014)

We took a chance, sang our songs, took a chance that we might get it wrong
unfamiliar, life-giving, unfinished.

To think we always did the same old thing, didn’t know that we were blossoming
into flowers, a whole bouquet, unfinished.

Do we ever get the chance to say “there, I’m complete. I’ve got it all figured out, it makes sense to me”
yeah here we are: the sum of all our blessings and a curse or two thrown in.
Here we are, exactly where we headed all those years ago… we’ll I don’t think so
we’re unfinished.

Is it someone else, or me who says, that everything I’ve been is all there is?
is it possible that we could change? Are we unfinished?

Do we ever get the chance to say “there, I’m complete. I’ve got it all figured out, it makes sense to me”
yeah here we are: the sum of all our blessings and a curse or two thrown in.
Here we are, exactly where we headed all those years ago… we’ll I don’t think so
we’re unfinished.

It’s crazy I know, so hard to let go of things that only bring you harm
But I’d rather dream of the possibilities, than settle for what I see
